There Were Two Trees

I gave a pop quiz to our congregation during one of my sermons to prove a point. These are a few of the questions and answers given.
Question: How many animals of the same species did Noah take on the Ark?People answered: Two
Answer: Gen 7:2 Seven pairs of every clean animal, and one pair of every unclean animal (male & female)
Question: How many wise men (Magi) came to see the king of Kings?
People answered: Three
Answe: Matt: 2:1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem. It doesn’t say how many.
Question: Where did the wise men find Jesus?
People answered: In a stable
Answer: Matt. 2:11 And when they were come into the house they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him:

The quiz showed how much we are influenced by what we have been taught or heard regarding the word of God. Many people believe information about the bible based on the media, and so called preachers/teachers that isn’t correct. We wouldn’t know the difference unless we read and study the bible for our selves. However, many want to be spoon-fed, than feed themselves. While others can only digest certain amount of biblical truth, so they discard the left over as something to be thrown away, instead of being set aside until they have a revelation of that scripture.

2Tim. 4:3-4 says, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” Paul wrote this letter to Timothy while in prison under Nero in 67-68 AD. Yet you would think this letter was written during our century.

The world has always believed the bible was a fable, a myth…But the Church? If we buy into that lie that the Bible is out dated and irrelevant for our time, then the devil has gain a major victory in the kingdom of darkness. If the Bible, which is the Word of God, is irrelevant than so is our Faith. The belief that the Word of God is irrelevant or is not true, has its roots in the garden of Eden. The serpent tempted Eve into eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. He tempted Eve by putting doubt in her mind concerning God’s word, by saying, “Did God say...?” (Gen. 3:1) God’s word was questioned then as it is today.

The Word of God is our Sword and the very foundation that we stand upon. Christians are called to change the world and not the other way around. The Lord never called us to conform to the world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our mind, by the Word of God.

I never thought in our time that ministers, and Christians would compromised the Word of God for the sake of peace or conformity. Christianity and Judaism are the only religion peopled are verbally persecuted, and killed over. Why? Because both recognize the same God (Yahweh), and the Messiah and Jesus Christ are one and the same. Christianity leads to eternal life through Jesus Christ. The Devil isn’t interested in people who are headed to hell, only those who aren’t.

Gen. 2:6-7 says, “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying of every tree in the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the Tree of the Knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”

In the midst of the garden God planted two trees, The tree of Life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. These two trees challenged Adam and Eve, and still challenge an entire human race today. The birthplace of humanity is also the birthplace of sin and enmity against God.

Who determined that sin is no longer sin, but a lifestyle, a habit or personal choice? If God has not changed His Word about sin, who did? Gen. 3:3 says, “Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”

Gen. 3:5 “For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” If we get rid of the Word of God or at least change it as the prince of this world (devil) would have you to do, then we can be our own judge, our own gods, just like the devil deceived Eve into believing.

We can ignore, discard, violate, and change the word of God, but Jesus said, “Heaven and Earth shall pass away but his Word shall not pass away.” (Matt.24:35)Having a knowledge of good and evil will not save you. Having knowledge of God or Jesus Christ will not save you either. It is what you do with that knowledge that will determine your life and your eternity.

In John 15:5  Jesus said, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” The tree of good and evil will result in death. The other option is the tree of life.Matthew 7:15-20  “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”  Don’t you think it is interesting that it is not our gifts, anointing, or money, but rather the fruit that will reveal what matter of person you really are? There were two trees in the garden. Which tree are you partaking from the Tree Of Life, or the Tree Of Knowledge of good and evil?
